The Super Boat International series hosted their 29th annual World Championships in Key West, Florida in mid-November. The week-long festival included a boat parade and three days of racing.  WHM was the fastest piston engine boat in the field (Wood photo).
Miss Geico put on her usual show with a 111.8 mph speed to win another SBI World Championship to add to her National Championship. Arch rival Aquamania had a bummer of a week with an endo flip early in the action. Fortunately, the crew was not injured. The other high speed class was Superboat Unlimited which was captured by WHM Motorsports with a speed of 106.3 mph.  Talking Trash walked the walk at Key West and took home the Superboat 750 trophy (Wood photo).
SBI’s “NASCAR” classes draw a lot of interest with their big, booming pushrod V-8 motors. Team CRC won the 850 class with a speed of 97.6 mph and Talking Trash was faster in the 750 class with a speed just a tick short of the ton at 99.7 mph. A special entry captured the Superboat 850 Extreme crown. Sheik Hassan Bin Jabor Al-Thani brought a two-boat team from Qatar and took the big bore title home to the Middle East.  Lucas Oil brought Stars and Stripes back home with a new boat similar to this. (Powerboat P1 photo).
Europe’s Powerboat P1 series sent a large contingent of officials and three race teams to Key West. The Anglo American Lucas Oil team ran their brand new Evolution Class boat in the Manufacturers Production 1 class and took home a third place trophy. Also, Powerboat P1 commentator and former racer Martin Sanborn handled the throttles on the Global Warmer boat which captured the MP 2 title. Repeat champions from the SBI Clearwater Nationals were: Superboat Vee Unlimited: Seminole Hard Rock Super Cat: Team Amsoil Superboat Stock: Miccouskee Indian Gaming MP 4: Simmons Racing  Team Amsoil picked up another title in Key West (Wood photo).
